Blue Tape on the Car in the Rain

Someone put blue tape over my car's rear windshield wiper while I was out shopping and I don't know why.

It's so strange. As I was backing up out of my parking space, I looked toward the back and see a thick blue tape covering the rear windshield wiper. I drove for a bit afterward, but decided to park again, peel it off, and throw it away just in case. Sorry, no pics of it!

Honestly, it may have happened earlier and I simply didn't notice it until now, but it definitely wasn't there yesterday. I just got a car wash yesterday, and that tape would have definitely peeled off then.

So, what gives? Was it a prank? Was someone trying to bust the rear wiper mechanism? Was I being marked? Was the tape laced with something and now my finger (and phone screen) are covered in it?

I don't understand.

Car wash people put it on to keep it from catching on the brushes and coming off in the wash?

It's either the car wash worried about damage to your wiper or someone wanted to show your support for law enforcement.

Though in the latter case the blue tape doesn't generally go on the wiper.

If that's the case, then that's really weird considering they never did that before.

They didn't even inform me of that. If I didn't notice before the next time I'd use the wiper it would've potentially gotten broken.

Maybe they thought if you saw it right when they put it, you would get out of the car to take it off and then they can jump in the car and steal it?

It's somebody giving you a signal that you need to wipe your behind better. Sorry OP. Now you need to think about who knows about your nasty behind.

Guess it's cheaper than getting sued, and someone forgot to take it off after.

The car wash put it there... you just didn't notice... they also don't take it off because typically no-one is on the other side where you come out.

I have a membership to the car wash and go daily, they do this as a precaution for vehicles with rear window wipers to protect themselves on liability of damages.

Not being rude but I thought this was common knowledge. It's been this way for years.

They probably have. It's likely an employee just forgot to take it off afterward this time.
